Chili is the perfect recipe for a hearty, home cooked meal an excellent choice for lunch or dinner. It is filling and at the same time extremely tasty. There is simply no way to match the flavour that this dish brings. This recipe can make anyone hesitant about eating chili without all the extra, as it turns out they are not needed for it to be delicious. Instead of using beans, like in a traditional chili. Loaded up this chili with extra veggies. Bell peppers, celery, and onions are all added for additional flavour. Veggies can vary depending on seasons and/or your own personal taste. The prep work for this chili recipe is the most time consuming. The smell of this chili will leave an amazing smell throughout your house and have your family asking for more.


 

Ingredients:
2 lbs. grass fed ground beef
1 medium onion, diced
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 red bell pepper, diced
1 green bell pepper, diced
3 stalks celery, diced
1 tomato, diced
1/4 cup diced green chilies
28 oz. crushed tomatoes*
15 oz. tomato sauce**
2 tbsp chili powder
1 tbsp oregano
1/2 tbsp basil
1/2 tbsp cumin
1/2 tbsp adobo sauce
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp cayenne
1 tsp coconut oil

Directions:

  1. In a large skillet, sauté the onions and garlic over medium heat.
  2. Add in the ground beef and cook until browned. Drain the excess fat and then transfer the meat mixture to the crock pot or big stock pot if you do not have a crock pot.
  3. Add in the bell peppers, celery, and diced tomato. Stir.
  4. Add in chilies, crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, chili powder,oregano, basil, cumin, adobo sauce, cayenne, and salt and pepper to taste. Stir everything together.
  5. Cook on low for 6-7 hours. Serve warm.
