When it comes to basic recipes, this is as basic as they come. It can be prepared quickly, to be used with that nights lunch or dinner. Being only one part water and one part mustard powder, it makes a quite hot mustard. If trying for a normal mustard flavour, all that needs to be done is let it stand for 15 minutes and the heat will start to decrease. This mustard recipe can be make prior to making you meal giving you that 15 minutes of standing time while the lunch or dinner meal it is going to be along side is being prepared and cooked.
1/2 cup mustard powder
1/2 cup water
Sea salt to taste
fresh parsley or basil, chopped
lemon or lime zest
1-2 tbsp of favourite vinegar
- In medium bowl combine 1/2 cup of the mustard powder and 1/4 cup water and mix well. Taste before adding second 1/4 cup water and season with sea salt and fresh ground pepper to taste. Now when adding the second 1/4 cup add slowly while mixing well to make sure the desire consistency is achieved and it does not become to watery.
- Now add if any or all of the optional ingredients. Mix well.
- Let the mustard stand for about 15 minutes before enjoying.
