Once you try this delicious homemade paleo caramel sauce, you will question why you ever bought it from the grocery store. No added sugar or unnecessary ingredients, allowing you to know exactly what is in it. Not only does this caramel sauce go well with apple slices or candied apples, my no bake salted paleo caramel squares, smore’s, paleo ice cream topping, you can also make homemade caramel squares with it.
1 cup coconut sugar
1/4 cup water
2 tbsp coconut oil or ghee
- Make the caramel sauce by heating a saucepan with the water and sugar until it begins to boil. Stir the mixture constantly. Add the sea salt and coconut oil or ghee and continue stirring on medium heat until it thickens and remove from the heat.
- Store in an air tight container, preferably glass. Keep in the refrigerator after it has cooled and after opening.
